Warm Cinnamon Apple Crumble

Ingredients for 4 people

·       800gr Bramley apple, peeled, cored and diced

·       4 tbsp golden caster sugar

·       1 tbsp ground cinnamon

·       175g plain flour

·       110g golden caster sugar

·       130g cold butter

·       50gr crushed mixed nuts1 tbsp caster sugar

1.     Heat the oven to 190C

2.     Toss the peeled, cored and diced Bramley apples with the golden caster sugar and put in a 23cm round baking dish at least 5cm deep

3.     Flatten down with your hand to prevent too much crumble falling through.

4.     Put 175g plain flour and 110g golden caster sugar in a bowl with a good pinch of salt.

5.     Slice in 130g cold butter and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture looks like coarse breadcrumbs.

6.     Mixed crushed nuts and mix together.

7.     Pour the crumb mix over the apples to form a pile in the centre, then use a fork to even out.

8.     Sprinkle with a spoon full of sugar prior to baking to give it an extra bit of sugary crunch.

9.     Set on a baking tray and put in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes, until the top is golden and the apples feel very soft when you insert a small, sharp knife. Leave to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
